Under the watchful eye of Judge Charles Wallace, a 1332kg bull Parknook Bonanza C496, exhibited by J.F & J Sturgeon & T.J & R.A Harris was awarded to prestigious title of Grand Champion Murray Grey bull.

EKKA 2010 once again saw steers and heifers with a Murray Grey content perform well in the Woolworths Premier Carcase Competition. Further highlighting the advantages of using Murray Greys in your commercial crossbreeding program.


MURRAY GREY NORTHERN BEEF WEEKEND TOUR
On the weekend of 26 and 27 June, thirty nine Murray Grey breeders from across NSW, VIC and QLD came together for a tour of four Murray Grey studs situated in the Northwest of NSW.  The tour, hosted by the Tamworth North West Murray Grey Breed Promotion Group was experienced by enthusiasts both stud and commercial, with cattle numbers large and small.


PERSONNEL CHANGES FOR THE MGBCS
With the birth of her first child just around the corner in October, Diana Wood will be relinquishing her role as the Executive Officer of the MGBCS on the 10th of September 2010. Filling in the role of Executive Officer for twelve months will be David McDonald.

2011 NSW BEEF SPECTACULAR & TRADE EXPO FEEDLOT TRIAL
Entries are now being taken for the 2011 NSW Beef Spectacular & Trade Expo Feedlot Trial. The objective of the trial is to evaluate the performance of teams of five animals in achieving the commercial requirements of Cargill Beef Australia's 100 day grain fed program.

MURRAY GREY FEMALE PROVIDES WINNING COMBINATION
The National Beef carcase competition saw Murray Grey and Murray Grey crosses perform well throughout the event. In keeping with the trend of crosses from European bulls & Murray Grey cows performing well in carcase competitions, a steer out of a Murray Grey cow was crowned the Grand Champion Carcase.


SECOND TIME RUNNING FOR ELIZABETH FIELDS AT BENDIGO
It was a case of de ja vu for the Elizabeth Fields Murray Grey Stud, Yass, NSW, when their cow, Elizabeth Fields Gemma B2 was named the Reserve Senior Interbreed Female at National Beef Bendigo in 2010. The Elizabeth Fields Stud also took out this title in 2009, with Milwood Jeanette A2.

Local producers and school students enjoyed the special guest speakers from Industry and Investment NSW who spoke on the latest tools available to improve beef production and profitability.

AN AUTHOR AMONGST US
Mrs Joyce Livingstone, a long time member of the MGBCS has recently published a children's book with the story based on, 'Matt & Miranda, The Murray Greys From Muddy Meadows Farm'.


MURRAY GREY STUDS IN STOCK & LAND BEEF WEEK
Three Murray Grey studs, along with a combined entry from the Gippsland Murray Grey breeders will be on show in the Stock & Land Autumn Beef week from January 31st to February 7th 2010.


MURRAY GREY STEER BRINGS $9,500 AT AUCTION
A seven month old Murray Grey Purebred steer named Thunder and weighing 326kg was auctioned off at the Bomen Livestock Marketing Centre Wagga Wagga, on the 7th December 2009.  The steer made a staggering $9,500 dollars in support of Willians Hill School for the intellectually disabled.
